Commissions

A work of art from one of your photographs
Do you want to commission a unique artistic image from one of your own photographs? Then read on...

Example subjects might be weddings or christenings, family gatherings, portraits or even simple holiday snaps. I can also work with old family photographs - perhaps that treasured but faded portrait of your father or mother as a child.

The best subjects are uncluttered and not too ‘busy'. It doesn’t matter if they are colour, black and white or sepia. If you want colour added I can do so.

Ideally I need a selection of images to work with. I can work from a variety of formats including original prints (maximum of A4 size), 35mm slides or negatives or a digital file.

If your picture is old or fragile I recommend that you have it scanned rather than sending the original through the post and risk damage or loss. If you have negatives or slides in other formats please get in touch first.

Scanned images should be in jpeg (.jpg) or photoshop (.psd) formats and scanned at 300 dpi. I can work with lower resolutions but this may affect the final size of image available.

Output from most digital cameras will be in jpeg format at 72 dpi. If you send such a file do not process it or edit in any way.

Please do not send RAW files of the type produced by high-end digital SLR cameras.

I will start by appraising your images to make sure they are suitable. This is free. Assuming no problems I will then produce a proof image for you to look at. Half of the proofing cost will be invoiced at that stage. The will be supplied as an overprinted A4 print on photographic paper. Once you have accepted this I will supply finished prints at the sizes you require.

Interested? Then get in touch. This is an individual and customised process so please do not send any files or originals without emailing first for detailed instructions. I will then contact you to discuss your requirements in more detail and agree a final price.

Other things being equal however the charge for producing a custom image would be £30-60 pounds, depending on how much work is involved. The higher price would be for an image collaged together from several originals or requiring restoration first while the lower price would be for an image derived from a single photograph without too much pre-processing required.
